About the Base64 Encoder

Encode text to Base64 or decode Base64 back to text, fully UTF-8 safe so emoji and CJK characters round-trip correctly. A URL-safe option swaps + and / for - and _ and drops padding, and the encode tab previews the equivalent data: URL for quick embedding.

How to use the Base64 Encoder

  1. Choose the Text โ†’ Base64 or Base64 โ†’ Text tab.
  2. Type your text or paste a Base64 string into the editor.
  3. Optionally tick URL-safe alphabet for values that will live in query strings or JWT-like tokens.
  4. Copy the result from the output box.

Base64 Encoder FAQ

Is it safe for non-English text?

Yes. Input is encoded as UTF-8 bytes before Base64, so emoji, accents and Chinese characters decode back exactly as typed โ€” a common failure in naive btoa-based converters.

What does URL-safe mode change?

It replaces + with -, / with _ and removes the trailing = padding, producing tokens safe for URLs and filenames; decoding accepts either alphabet automatically.

What if the input is not valid Base64?

The decode tab reports that the value is not valid Base64 rather than returning scrambled output.
