About the Image Color Picker

Pick exact pixel colors from any image and extract its dominant palette. Hover to sample colors live, click to save them to a history strip, and get the eight most common colors computed by quantizing the image โ€” perfect for matching a design to a screenshot or photo.

How to use the Image Color Picker

  1. Upload an image โ€” it renders on a canvas at screen scale.
  2. Move the cursor to preview the color under the pointer in hex and RGB.
  3. Click to save the color into your picked-colors strip; click a swatch to copy it.
  4. Scroll down for the dominant-color palette extracted from the whole image.

Image Color Picker FAQ

How are dominant colors calculated?

Pixels are sampled across the image and grouped into 4-bit-per-channel buckets, then the largest buckets are averaged. That merges near-identical shades and surfaces the colors that actually dominate the picture.

Is the color I click the exact pixel value?

Yes. The picker reads the composited canvas pixel at your cursor position, so anti-aliased edges may differ slightly from the source artwork but the reading is exact for the rendered image.

Are my images uploaded?

No โ€” decoding, sampling and palette extraction all run in your browser using canvas APIs.
