A screenshot or photo containing a QR code

Decoded entirely on-device with jsQR โ€” useful when you can't scan a QR with your phone camera.

About the QR Code Reader

Decode a QR code from any image โ€” a screenshot, a downloaded graphic or a photo โ€” using the jsQR library entirely inside your browser. Images are upscaled up to 2x before scanning, inverted codes are attempted as well, and decoded URLs can be opened directly with one click.

How to use the QR Code Reader

  1. Drop or select an image containing a QR code in the upload area.
  2. Wait for the preview and the Decoded content box to fill in.
  3. Click Open link in new tab if the QR contained a URL.
  4. If nothing was found, try a sharper or closer screenshot of the code.

QR Code Reader FAQ

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. The image is read locally, drawn to a canvas and scanned by jsQR in your browser โ€” nothing leaves your device, which matters for codes containing tickets or credentials.

Why does a real-looking QR fail to decode?

Blur, glare, heavy compression or the code being too small in frame all break detection; take a tighter, sharper screenshot and try again since the scanner upscales up to 2x automatically.

Can it read codes from the camera?

This tool reads image files only โ€” drop a screenshot or photo of the code rather than expecting a live camera stream.
