About the UUID Generator
Generate UUIDs in bulk โ up to a hundred at a time โ in version 4 or version 7. V4 is fully random from the cryptographic source, while v7 embeds a millisecond Unix timestamp so identifiers sort chronologically, a property databases love. Format options strip hyphens and switch to uppercase.
How to use the UUID Generator
- Choose a version: UUID v4 (random) or UUID v7 (timestamped).
- Set How many from 1 to 100 with the slider.
- Tick No hyphens or Uppercase if your system expects that format.
- Press Generate and copy the list from the output box.
UUID Generator FAQ
Which version should I choose?
V4 for general-purpose random identifiers; v7 when IDs will live in a database and you want them to sort roughly by creation time, which improves index locality.
Are the UUIDs unique?
V4 draws 122 random bits from crypto.getRandomValues, making collisions astronomically unlikely; v7 combines a millisecond timestamp with random bits and is unique within a millisecond.
What does the No hyphens option do?
It removes the four dashes from the canonical 8-4-4-4-12 layout, producing the 32-hex-character compact form some APIs and filenames prefer.
