About the Morse Code Translator

Translate text to International Morse code and back again. Letters, digits and common punctuation all have mappings, letters within a word are separated by spaces, and words are joined with a slash. The decoder accepts slashes or wide gaps between words, so output from this tool or a ham radio transcript both work.

How to use the Morse Code Translator

  1. Type your message in the Text โ†’ Morse editor on the left.
  2. Copy the encoded dots and dashes from the Morse code box.
  3. To decode, paste Morse into the Morse โ†’ Text editor on the right.
  4. Separate words with / (or three spaces) so the decoder can place word breaks.

Morse Code Translator FAQ

Which characters are supported?

All 26 letters, the digits 0 through 9, and punctuation including . , ? ! / ( ) & : ; = + - _ " @, following the standard International Morse tables.

How are word boundaries encoded?

Letters in a word are separated by single spaces and words by a slash; the decoder also recognizes three or more consecutive spaces as a word break.

What happens to unsupported characters?

Characters without a Morse mapping, such as accented letters, are skipped during encoding, so the output only contains translatable characters.
