RSA Key Generator

Generate RSA 2048–4096 PEM key pairs locally.

About the RSA Key Generator

Generate real RSA key pairs of 2048, 3072 or 4096 bits locally with WebCrypto, exported as PEM. The public key comes in SPKI form and the private key in PKCS#8 — the formats expected by SSH-style configs, JWT RS256 testing and encrypted-payload workflows. Nothing is transmitted during generation.

How to use the RSA Key Generator

  1. Choose a key size — 2048 bits is the standard, 4096 the most conservative.
  2. Press Generate key pair and wait a moment for the math to finish.
  3. Copy the public key from the SPKI / PEM box to share it.
  4. Store the PKCS#8 private key somewhere safe — it is shown only here.

RSA Key Generator FAQ

Which key size should I pick?

2048 bits remains the accepted standard and generates fastest; 3072 and 4096 add security margin at the cost of slower operations, which matters for high-volume systems.

What can this key pair be used for?

RSA-OAEP encryption of small payloads and RSA signing setups such as testing JWT RS256 — note the pair is generated for encryption operations, so verify signing support separately.

Is it safe to generate keys in a browser?

Key material is produced by the browser's cryptographic engine and never leaves the page, but browser-generated keys suit development and testing; dedicated tooling is the norm for long-lived production secrets.
