—About the Binary / Hex Converter
Convert text into its raw UTF-8 bytes represented as binary, hexadecimal, octal or decimal — and decode any of those back into readable text. Each byte is zero-padded to a fixed width, and both direction converters share the page so you can round-trip encodings without switching tools.
How to use the Binary / Hex Converter
- Type text in the Encode section to see its UTF-8 bytes immediately.
- Choose Binary, Hexadecimal, Octal or Decimal from the Byte encoding dropdown.
- To decode, pick the matching Input encoding below and paste the byte values into the second editor.
- Copy the Encoded or Decoded output from the boxes.
Binary / Hex Converter FAQ
Which encoding is used?
UTF-8. Each character becomes its UTF-8 byte sequence, so emoji produce four bytes and accented letters two, while binary bytes are padded to 8 bits, hex to 2 digits and octal to 3.
Why does one letter turn into several bytes?
Characters outside ASCII occupy multiple UTF-8 bytes; é is two bytes and a party emoji is four, which is why the encoded output is longer than the input.
Can it decode input without spaces?
Yes. If the input contains no separators it is split into fixed-width groups automatically — 8 digits for binary and 2 for hexadecimal.
