About the Password Generator
Create strong random passwords or memorable word-based passphrases, generated locally with crypto.getRandomValues. Character mode controls length from 6 to 64 with toggles for lowercase, uppercase, digits and symbols plus look-alike exclusion; passphrase mode joins three to eight words with a number. Entropy in bits and a strength label update live.
How to use the Password Generator
- Pick a mode: Random characters or Passphrase (words).
- Set the length slider, or tick the character sets you want to allow.
- Keep Exclude look-alikes on to avoid confusing characters like l, 1, O and 0.
- Set how many passwords to produce and press Generate.
- Check the Entropy bits and strength bar, then copy your favorite.
Password Generator FAQ
How is strength measured?
By Shannon entropy in bits, computed from the character pool and length (or the word list size in passphrase mode); 80 bits and above is labeled Strong, and 110 or more Excellent.
Are the passwords truly random?
Yes โ generation uses the browser cryptographic random source crypto.getRandomValues, and every password is guaranteed at least one character from each selected set, shuffled into place.
Is it safe to use these passwords?
Generation happens entirely in your browser and nothing is transmitted or stored, but copy passwords straight into your password manager rather than leaving them on screen.
