About the Metronome

A precise metronome with a 30โ€“300 BPM range, accent on the downbeat, adjustable beats per bar and a tap-tempo button that reads your rhythm. Built on the Web Audio clock for steady timing that does not drift with page rendering.

How to use the Metronome

  1. Set the tempo with the BPM slider or tap the Tap tempo button in rhythm.
  2. Choose beats per bar โ€” 4 for most pop and rock, 3 for waltzes.
  3. Press Start; the first beat of each bar plays a higher accent click.
  4. Stop when you are done โ€” no audio keeps playing in the background.

Metronome FAQ

Why use a metronome when practicing?

A steady click exposes timing unevenness that is hard to feel. Start below performance tempo, play the passage cleanly, then raise the BPM in small steps until you reach target speed.

How does tap tempo work?

Each tap records a timestamp; the tool averages the gaps of your last few taps within a three-second window and converts that into BPM. Tap 4โ€“6 times for a stable reading.

Does it keep working in a background tab?

Browser throttling can disturb timers in hidden tabs, so keep the tab visible during practice sessions.
