โAbout the Find & Replace
Search and replace across a block of text with live match counting. Plain search works out of the box, while a Regular expression switch unlocks patterns with $1-style capture groups in the replacement. Case-sensitive and whole-word toggles give precise control, and an invalid pattern is reported instead of failing silently.
How to use the Find & Replace
- Paste your text into the editor.
- Type what to find in the Find field and the replacement in the Replace with field.
- Tick Regular expression for pattern matching, Case sensitive for exact-case matches, or Whole words only to avoid partial hits.
- Check the Matches found counter, then copy the result from the output box.
Find & Replace FAQ
How do I use capture groups?
Enable Regular expression, wrap parts of your pattern in parentheses, then reference them as $1, $2 and so on in the replacement. Finding (\w+) (\w+) and replacing with $2 $1, for example, swaps the two words.
Why does my search match inside other words?
Untick Whole words only to allow substrings; keep it ticked when searching for cat without also matching category.
What happens with an invalid regex?
The tool shows an Invalid regex message describing the error and leaves your text unchanged, so nothing is mangled by a broken pattern.
