About the Unix Timestamp

Convert Unix timestamps to dates and dates back to timestamps, with automatic detection of seconds, milliseconds and microseconds based on input length. Results include ISO 8601, UTC string, local time, relative time, day of week and day of year, and a live ticker shows the current epoch in seconds and milliseconds.

How to use the Unix Timestamp

  1. Paste a timestamp or ISO date string into the Timestamp โ†’ date field.
  2. Read the full result block: ISO, UTC, local time, relative age and Unix values.
  3. For the reverse, pick a date in the datetime field or press Use current time.
  4. Use the offset dropdown for quick values like +1 hour or โˆ’1 day, then copy the Unix result.

Unix Timestamp FAQ

How does it know if my timestamp is in seconds or milliseconds?

Digit count decides: 10 or fewer digits are treated as seconds, 13 or more as milliseconds, and 16 or more as microseconds, with a note confirming the interpretation.

Can I paste an ISO date string instead of a number?

Yes. Anything the browser Date parser accepts, like 2026-09-02T12:00:00Z, converts to a full result block including its Unix equivalents.

Is the conversion timezone aware?

Timestamps are absolute, and the tool shows both UTC and your browser local timezone rendering; the reverse direction takes the datetime you pick as local wall time.
